At the Department of Systems Biology a postdoc position is available on a collaborative project on tracing and control of pathogens such as Listeria monocytogenes and Staphylococcus aureus in the food (dairy) industry. The project focuses on physiology and genetics of these pathogens in mixed bacterial communities with commensals from the processing environments. The project is funded by The strategic research council and is a collaboration with University of Sao Paulo. The position is part of the Research group for Bacterial Ecophysiology and Biotechnology led by Professor Lone Gram.

Responsibilities and tasks

The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for work on mixed communities and addressing the influence of commensals on persistence, resistance and virulence related aspects of the two target pathogens. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to contribute to teaching and supervision of student projects in the research group.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent. The candidate should have experience with food-borne pathogens, molecular microbiology and should have demonstrated ability to generate science, ideas and publications.
