  Job Description

  You could be the Laboratory Support Technologist we are seeking to support materials evaluation, predictive capabilities (including materials, component and system-level age aware models), system/material test equipment. The job will require a range of support functions, including general lab operations, mechanical/electrical experimentation, materials characterization, and related safety documentation preparation and review. **Key functions include:** + Implement lab safety requirements + Use standard office and lab software + Development and testing of various components in different environmental conditions + Coordinating with multiple groups for testing + Analyze/test samples with Keyence, electrical equipment, profilometer...etc + Maintaining laboratory operations, including equipment servicing, repair, and modification + Interact and support numerous scientists and engineers in materials research, troubleshooting, and failure analysis + Collaborate with key technical staff to realize their ideas and accomplish project goals + Work occasional overtime to meet program deadlines Are you ready for your next challenge?   Required:

  + You will have a Bachelor's degree or higher in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM), or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience + Experience working with electro-mechanical systems + Experience with design, construction, and maintenance of equipment + Experience with programming (i.e., LabVIEW, C++, Matlab) + Ability to obtain and DOE-L or Q level security clearance

  Department Description:

  The Materials Aging & Lifetime Department, 1854, conducts research/development and materials evaluation for the Enhanced Surveillance (ES) sub-program of the Engineering Campaign. The primary objective is to develop the knowledge and capabilities needed to detect, assess and predict age-related changed in the enduring stockpile. Our team provides practical solutions to the needs of a wide variety of Sandia customers and external entities. Specifically, activities in our research groups include; environmental testing, thermal testing, corrosion analysis, and failure analysis.
