Department: Aging & Metabolism - T. Griffin

Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Griffin Lab (griffint.omrf.org) is seeking a post-doctoral fellow or staff scientist with strong interests in preclinical translational studies to lead a collaborative project on osteoarthritis therapies. This project is funded through a new Veterans Administration Collaborative Merit Award to develop a comprehensive cartilage repair strategy to alleviate osteoarthritis pain. The Griffin Lab is working with an inter-disciplinary team of 6 other VA-funded scientists from across the country to achieve this goal. A unique component of this project is the use of mouse models with health conditions that are common in the aging Veteran population. The goal of the Griffin Lab's project is to determine how exercise-based rehabilitation approaches modify the inflammatory and epigenetic “host environment” to improve the efficacy of cellular therapies. In addition to working with a national collaborative group of VA scientists, the Griffin Lab works with a multi-disciplinary group of colleagues in the Aging and Metabolism Research Program at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF). Our lab also shares strong collaborations with labs at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) in the areas of aging, neuroscience, rheumatology, and orthopaedics. The Aging and Metabolism Research Program is committed to training postdoctoral fellows for an independent research career. Staff Scientists are also eligible for career advancement. We are seeking candidates with a strong scientific background and excellent written and verbal communication skills to work independently and with our multidisciplinary research team. The position is available immediately. OMRF is an independent, not-for-profit biomedical research institute adjacent to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) campus in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City offers a dynamic and flourishing downtown area, with low cost of living, short commute times and a diversified economy. The Oklahoman newspaper ranked OMRF as Oklahoma's #1 large workplace in their annual Best Places to Work survey for 2017 and 2019. OMRF supports a comprehensive postdoctoral training program (https://omrf.org/about-omrf/education-outreach/postdoctoral-programs/). OMRF's excellence can only be fully realized by individuals who share our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to these values. OMRF is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
