School of Biological Sciences

The School of Biological Sciences at UQ has an outstanding program of research in evolution, global change biology, ecology, marine science including aquaculture, behaviour, physiology, entomology, zoology, botany, genomics, development and conservation biology. World-class infrastructure, proximity to stunning habitats and biodiversity, and our tropical-subtropical location contribute to our unique working environment. The School hosts two research discipline centres, The Ecology Centre and the Centre for Marine Science and the National Environmental Science Program Threatened Species Research hub as well as being a node for the Australian Research Councils Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies.

The role

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work within the project "Towards maximising the resilience of coastal ecosystems in Singapore and tropical Australia" with Catherine Lovelock (UQ), Danwei Huang (NUS), Dan Friess (NUS), Peter Todd (NUS), Ian Young (U Melb), Ryan Lowe (UWA) and James Gilmour (AIMS). She/he will leverage on the knowledge of a team of experts from Singapore and Australia to contribute to understanding of the role of tropical coastal ecosystems in coastal protection.

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. marine science, marine ecology, coastal engineering, geospatial analyses) and demonstrated skills and experience in spatial biophysical analysis and modelling, and marine ecology. We are seeking a person who has demonstrated experience in organising workshops; evidence of a strong publication record; an ability to establish effect relationships and the capacity to work with and coordinate a diverse group of scientists; possess evidence of a contribution to collaborative research, including the ability to work collaboratively with remote colleagues.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 6 months at Academic Level A. The remuneration package will be in the range of $70,729 - $94,637p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%.
