Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM), Cornell University

Postdoctoral fellow

The Gao lab at C.T. Surgery, Weill Cornell Medicine (New York, NY) is seeking an outstanding and self-motivated candidate to investigate the mechanism of tumor metastasis and chemoresistance. The Gao lab ( http://www.dgaolab.org) is particularly interested in exploring the involvement of EMT (epithelial to mesenchymal transition) mechanism in tumor progression (Fischer et al. Nature. 2015, Lourenco et al. Cancer Res. 2020), and exploring novel therapeutic strategies for metastatic breast cancer. The approaches that our lab employs include genetically modified mouse models, transcriptome analyses of bulk and single-cell sequencing, fluorescent microscopic imaging, and flow cytometry. Multiple EMT lineage tracing models, such as bar-coded mice, have been well-established in the lab. Candidates will have the opportunity to utilize these models and explore the underlying mechanisms of tumor metastasis and therapy resistance development.

Candidate activities will include handling tumor models in mice, development, and analysis of genetically modified mouse models, microscopy, and flow cytometry. Basic molecular biology techniques such as DNA cloning, cell culture, and virus packaging are required. Knowledge about bioinformatics analysis of RNA-seq and scRNA-seq data will be very helpful.

Salary range and benefits: Salary is offered according to institutional guidelines based on experience. Full benefits are described in detail at: https://postdocs.weill.cornell.edu/policies . Benefits can include postdoctoral housing near the medical school campus.

Application: The candidate is required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biological or medical science. Interested candidates should submit their CV, letter of interest, and 2 references to Dr. Gao (dig2009@med.cornell.edu).
