Fully funded PhD position in Machine Learning for Multiobjective Combinatorial Optimization at TU Munich (Application Deadline: 30 April 2026)

A fully funded PhD position (initially 75% TV-L E13, increasing to 100% TV-L E13 after 8 months) in Machine Learning for Multiobjective Combinatorial Optimization is available at the Professorship of Optimization and Sustainable Decision Making of the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The expected starting date for the position is August 2026 or later.

The application deadline is 30 April 2026. Applications will be reviewed starting from this date and will remain open until the position is filled.

Your Profile:

Above-average master’s degree in mathematics, theoretical computer science, machine learning, or a closely related field.

Strong background in discrete optimization, algorithms, or reinforcement learning.

Good programming skills (preferably Python) and experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and interest in mathematical research.

Experience with multiobjective optimization is a plus.

Very good command of spoken and written English.
