The Universities of Stuttgart and Tübingen jointly invite applications for a Junior Research Group Leader (f/m/d).
The Universities of Stuttgart and Tübingen are leading universities in Germany and are located in close proximity, thereby providing a vibrant and cutting- edge multi-disciplinary environment at the interface of science, engineering and clinical research. As part of the University strategies to further strengthen their complementary expertise and collaborative research activities, a joint Junior Research Group in the field of gastrointestinal cancers will be established
The junior research group will be housed at the University of Stuttgart and will be affiliated with both the Stuttgart Research Center Systems Biology (SRCSB) and the Tübingen Center for Personalised Medicine (ZPM), part of the University Hospital (UKT) and the Excellence Strategy of the University of Tübingen. Successful candidates will benefit from the extensive collaboration potential at both universities and will be provided access to existing infrastructures to carry out their research program. The clinical research groups of the UKT as well as the Clusters of Excellence ‘Image-Guided and Functionally Instructed Tumor Therapies (iFIT)’ and ‘Controlling Microbes to Fight Infections (CMFI)’ can provide access to clinical data and patient-derived biosamples.
The appointment (E14-TV-L) is available for applicants holding a MD, MD/PhD or PhD degree and is linked to the funding period of the Excellence Strategy at the University of Tübingen (until 31/10/2025). The position includes core support for funding a postdoctoral researcher (E13), a PhD student or technician as well as consumables.

Requirements
We seek outstanding early career researchers with at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience and with exciting research plans that address the triangle of tumor development, metabolome and microbiome. Successful candidates will link at least two of these aspects in their intended research program. Applications focusing on experimental or systems biological/bioinformatic approaches will both be considered.
