Queensland University of Technology

Postdoctoral position – Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia

Starting Date: February 2022, Duration: 24 months + possible 12 months extension

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in materials characterisation and advanced surface science to undertake a postdoctoral fellowship (24 months + possible 12 months extension) within our research team (Prof. Barner-Kowollik) to work in the field of soft matter materials characterization. The current project will pioneer an integrated materials science solution for stormwater retention with an international commercial partner. The project will entail the characterisation of composite materials via highly advanced AFM high resolution chemical imaging and further state-of-the art surface sensitive measurement methods (e.g. XPS, ToF-SIMS, FT-IR) to gain refined insights into highly complex interface chemistries.

We seek a highly motivated candidate with a strong track record and interest in (soft matter) materials characterisation, keen to make a real-world difference with their research in an international context. The successful candidate will additionally show a strong interest in collaborating with synthetic polymer chemists and water engineers across discipline boundaries within the project team. A proven track record in complex data handling and processing would be highly welcomed.

The successful applicant will be based in the School of Chemistry and Physics (https://www.qut.edu.au/about/our-university/organisational-structure/faculty-of-science/school-of-chemistry-and-physics) at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and will be part of the Soft Matter Materials Laboratory (http://macroarc.org/). For more information, please contact Prof. Barner-Kowollik (christopher.barnerkowollik@qut.edu.au).

To apply, please provide

• A full CV and publication list

•Two detailed letters of reference (including one from the supervisor of your research thesis)

•A letter of motivation

Please send your completed application in a single PDF document to Dr. Laura Delafresnaye (laura.delafresnaye@qut.edu.au) by the 26th of October 2021.
