The post

The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate in the UKRI funded Energy Demand Research Centre (EDRC). The Energy Demand Research Centre undertakes research for an affordable and secure low energy future. Our interdisciplinary research programme identifies evidence-based energy demand reductions for a sustainable and more equitable future. Our interdisciplinary and collaborative research programme is arranged in five main research themes of Futures, Flexibility, Place, Governance and Equity. These themes cut across different scientific disciplines from engineering to social sciences, exploring the combined technological, economic and societal solutions that can deliver energy demand reductions in buildings, transport and industry. For further information on EDRC, please visit the project’s webpage: https://www.edrc.ac.uk/.

The successful applicant will join the Equity Theme of EDRC. They will conduct a mixture of qualitative and quantitative work to build a comprehensive picture of intersecting energy-related inequities impacting different sociodemographic groups across the UK regions. This will include data collection amongst those with lived experience of energy inequities and with a wide range of stakeholders, using e.g. interviews, focus groups, surveys and a Delphi study. Secondary data analysis of e.g. the English Housing Survey and Understanding Society will complement the work.
